In the community

Sponsorships

Our people spend thousands of hours per year volunteering: Sitting on boards or providing key accounting services at low or no cost to organisations that couldn't operate without them. We consider this work to be part of our firm culture and part of our national culture.

We have more than 400 directors and employees around the country who are active members of their local communities and we, as a network, give time and money to their causes. Each office is actively encouraged to form great relationships with their local community. Every year, around the country our teams take part in the likes of Pink Ribbon Day, Movember and many other fundraising initiatives, raising thousands of dollars for worthwhile causes.

Life Education Trust – our national partnership

Our primary national partnership is with Life Education Trust. The charity works in schools to educate and inspire children and young people to make positive choices. It provides programmes focused around health and wellbeing, delivered through interactive learning experiences.

Its team delivers individualised health and wellbeing learning experiences in primary and intermediate schools through the Healthy Harold Programme. The specialist educators provide engaging and memorable lessons in mobile classrooms using unique technology and resources.

In secondary schools, Life Education provides interactive Theatre-in-Education programmes designed to explore learning points through relatable scenarios and workshop elements encouraging conversation. After these sessions teachers are supported to provide extended learning in the school classroom. The SMASHED Project explores the dangers of underage drinking and helps young people develop strategies for resisting peer influence, while SMART$ provokes thinking and conversation around everyday financial decisions and opportunities impacting young people.

We love the work Life Education does to support tamariki and rangatahi to make positive choices.

Some of our other partnerships are listed below. Each of our member firms chooses to have relationships with local charities working in their own communities. This independence of choice is another great reason to be part of the Baker Tilly Staples Rodway network.

Baker Tilly Staples Rodway Christchurch – Southern Cancer Society

Our Christchurch office is proud to support the Southern Cancer Society in its mission to provide hope, care and practical support to people affected by cancer. Each year the Society helps thousands of individuals and families by offering free emotional and practical assistance from diagnosis through to post-treatment. Services include information and advice, transport to appointments, and accommodation support.

Baker Tilly Staples Rodway Hawke's Bay – Hawke's Bay Community Fitness Centre Trust

Hawke's Bay is a stronger community thanks to the sports and health facilities and services offered by the Hawke's Bay Community Fitness Centre Trust. Our Hawke’s Bay firm is particularly pleased to support the Trust’s programmes for low-decile school groups. Skilled coaches inspire the children to embrace physical activity and sport, helping them build confidence, resilience and other qualities for success in life.

Baker Tilly Staples Rodway Taranaki – Ross Brown Rugby Tournament

Game on! The iconic Ross Brown Rugby Tournament and Baker Tilly Staples Rodway Junior Festival bring young players, families and communities together – celebrating teamwork, sportsmanship and regional pride. Our Taranaki offices are proud to help create opportunities for the next generation to develop their leadership and teamwork skills, build lasting friendships and enjoy the game that plays such a key role in our region.

Baker Tilly Staples Rodway Tauranga – Good Neighbour

Good Neighbour is the gift that keeps giving! The Tauranga-based charitable trust is all about transforming communities and its many good deeds include neighbourhood projects and food rescue, community gardens, firewood and care, as well as training opportunities in its Good Neighbour Kitchen. Our Tauranga office assists the trust by providing free accounting services so that it can get on with what it excels at – helping people.
